This new system allowed for a more flexible and robust cost control and reporting tool than the outdated tool they were using. • Created a Freight, Tax and Handling calculator and attached it to the estimating tool. This calculator was key in providing customers with an accurate budget to set for the shipping of a variety of products to over 90 countries and counting. • Developed a tool for the sales and procurement department that promoted proper workflow and established a more repeatable and reliable process. The tool also automated steps in the process by converting the specifications input by sales into a purchase requisition for the vendor and a proposal for the customer. • Developed and implemented an operations cross-training program to increase individual skill sets and allow personnel to be assigned where needed, easing bottlenecks and improving workflow into production. • Analyzed historical data to help provide a framework for project management and other service fees that were untapped, a project, which garnered $200,000 of additional revenue in its first year. Developed and implemented all applicable training documents like standard operation procedures, standard work instructions and complex process manuals. • Led a group that restructured the estimating process to both reduce steps to increase throughput and promote repeatability to provide more consistent pricing for the customers. • Actively involved with a cross functional cost analysis team which worked to uncover significant gaps in production standards, uncover areas for further training and areas for process improvement. • Developed and implemented a new scheduling system by restructuring the current systems to fit a new product line and process change and then adding new reporting tools that allowed production managers to better monitor workflow and provide accurate ship dates. • Worked together with plant manager to develop a detailed ROI report to justify the purchase of a large piece of production equipment. Based on a large sample of historical analysis and future cost savings we were able to show that we could start seeing a return under 5 years. • Created and implemented a new cost estimating matrix that changed the average turn on proposals from 24 hours to under 4.
