These are socially-valuable sites.Much of the work I’ve done has been for one particular site, the “Ideas Exchange,” for the Division for Services Improvement (DSI) area of SAMHSA. This is a members-only site for grantees to share resources, participate in discussions, and to learn how to better service their grants. My work on the site is a good balance between designing and implementing new features, and closing old tickets from earlier versions of the site. Also, kinda taking "ownership" of it from a technical side but with the user in mind... it's harder than it sounds and a lot of fun. And I'm usually the first contact for the business side... I speak both languages and translate fluently between them with ease. I feel lucky to participate at all levels of the projects I work on at JBS... from concept to problem solving to presentation. Among these is the new main Altarum site. I was the data architect and lead developer. The back-end content manager’s interface is very easy to use, and is customized per user role. Another site was for the Family Planning National Training centers. This was a challenge because the five training centers had their own disparate online tools. My task was to integrate these centers and their users into one Drupal public site, with a private members-only UI for the leaders. There are two different menu systems, with one appearing at the top of the browser window depending upon login status. This allows content management from any page on the site. Most of the sites I built at Altarum are private "online tools." Among these is a TA ticket tracking system for NPA, and another one was for the “Access to Recovery” initiative, sponsored by SAMHSA. These are enterprise-level sites that include TA tracking, consultant databases, notifications and approvals, and a budgeting system for tracking costs and time spent. I see the web as a delivery system for SaaS-level applications. One such application was for ONC-FACA that allows meeting scheduling, internal communication, and a “Doodle” clone, allowing the many users of the site to find the best date and time for their meetings. I was recently told that “ONC-FACA could not function effectively without this site.” Prior to focusing on Drupal, I was the only source of audio and video production for all locations of Altarum Institute. I am an expert in all facets of A/V production, graphic design, motion graphics, audio mastering, and encoding. It is worth noting that when I joined Altarum, they had neither web development nor video production capabilities. During my time there, I grew and managed both of these departments to the point where, upon my departure, there are now three employees that I trained and mentored, handling all of these requirements. I also shot, edited, produced, scored the music for, and programmed two full-length DVDs for Reebok, using Apple’s Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro. These two DVDs feature Coach Bob Hurley, the winningest high school basketball coach in history. Extra features included an alternate version with coach Hurley narrating. From four cameras, to me and FCP, to Amazon. The purpose of these DVDs is to teach young basketball coaches and players the drills that Coach Hurley uses for his own national championship teams. The DVDs were extremely well received by Reebok, and have received high praise in reviews by ESPN and many high school coaches who have purchased the DVDs. They are even being used by the NBA’s New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves. Show less
