Kunming Hasfarm (previously known as Taikoo Flowers) was invested in 2007 by Finlays (subsidiary of Swire). In 2014 the company was sold-off to Agripacific Holding (among others this company owns Dalat Hasfarm Vietnam and Greenwings Japan). Tim Scalongne decided to stay and continue with the new owners as Managing Director of the subsidiary.Kunming Hasfarm is located 2,000 meters above sea level, 60 km north of Kunming in the Yunnan province of China (South Western China). At this location there are currently 30 hectares of modern greenhouses and supporting infrastructure, including cold storage, grading halls, pack house facilities, tissue culture laboratory and young plants cutting nurseries (and still expanding yearly). Total work force includes around 600 workers and a management team of about 50 persons.The company is producing cut flowers, of which the majority is being exported to Japan, Australia and UK. Recently a growing amount of stems are being sold on the domestic market. Besides that the company is also active in imports and sales of cut flowers for domestic market with weekly arrival of sea containers from the sister company in Vietnam.The company also owns a Joint Venture with HilverdaKooij, a company from The Netherlands, where it produces young plants for domestic market and export to Europe and Japan.Tim Scalongne was as Managing Director responsible for all operation of Kunming Hasfarm Flowers and the Joint Venture with HilverdaKooij, Kunming Hasfarm Young Plants Ltd. Responsibilities include production to sales, all administration and finance, as well as multi-year strategic planning of the business. Tim was reporting directly to an overseas CEO.

Dalat Hasfarm operates 4 farms in Vietnam and is with its size the largest flower farm produce in Asia (150 hectares of greenhouses, 3000+ employees). Having strong beliefs in high-tech solutions and cool chain management, the company delivers wide assortment to both export and domestic markets. In Vietnam the company is completely vertical integrated, with its own distribution centers around Vietnam to serve wholesalers and besides that the company is doing own branded retailing through supermarkets (72 outlets) and standalone flower shops (17 shops) and is also serving the end consumer through its B2C online platform.

Besides the responsibilities included in previous position (as Manager Processing China), also the responsibilities for the production of flowerbulbs in China (Yunnan, Sichuan and Shandong province) was added.

As Manager Processing I was responsible for setting up and running the processing, storage and logistics plant of the Chinese subsidiary of Van den Bos Flowersbulbs. At this plant we process, pack and store locally produced flowerbulbs (by local contract growers). Also this plant would function as logistic hub for imported flowerbulbs sold in this area of China.

In the year 2000 I followed my trainee ship (six month) at the Public Relations department of the Groninger Museum (one of the major museums in Holland). An organization known for its successful free-publicity campaigns. After my trainee ship I became employed within this organization. For 2-years I've worked part-time at this organization besides attending university.
