Supported DCS Sales team, working as the sole developer for applications which track our national sales lifecycle. Built a new replacement our old “Apollo” CRM tool. The replacement enabled salespeople to coordinate sales activities with their leaders on a district and regional level, and integrated tightly with the Salesforce platform, utilizing Salesforce’s latest “Lightning Framework” components, which provide a MVC framework for app architecture.

Supported a broad variety of apps, incl. DCS customer request service (which consumed/transformed customer data, distributing it to various internal systems), SCALE/WMS (warehousing system), and Optimove/Intergis (routing and scheduling apps). Responded to issues both internal and external issues, maintaining a 24-hour on-call rotation to respond quickly to critical issues. Supported issues with system interconnectivity via IBM MQ queues and DB2/MSSQL tables.Payroll/Invoicing Reporting: Supported various invoicing and payroll reports (SQL/SSRS/Excel), which ran reports supporting driver payroll and customer invoicing. Managed report automation triggers, structure, and backend systems, including both legacy reports and generation of new reports.Misc. I was responsible for researching and implementing a broader, “big data” approach to our searching technology. I researched several options (including ElasticSearch, SOLR, and Lucene), and identified ElasticSearch as the most appropriate solution. I implemented a solution which involved a new virtual server, hosting an indexing service and an ElasticSearch instance mapped to our customer request data. This system consumed our incoming customer data, indexing it for flexible searching by external apps via a REST interface.

Worked as software architect and main programmer for Market Research Center (MRC) group in J.B. Hunt's Dedicated Carriage Service (DCS) division. Was responsible for refactoring/modernizing legacy systems which tracked over $100M annually in potential sales. Developed data-driven reporting dashboards in HTML/PHP/Javascript, accessing data warehouses on DB2 and MS SQL Server databases. Introduced source-code versioning (Mercurial) to programming pipeline. Refactored existing redundant, procedural codebase into manageable OOP code. Created a unified deployment process, and wrote custom deployment tools to facilitate doing so. Centralized reused code from multiple projects, and oversaw the deployment process. Introduced standardized framework (CodeIgniter) for new development. Worked as a key MRC liaison when J.B. Hunt transitioned from a legacy CRM solution (Pivotal) to Salesforce.com. Helped author requirements documentation to ensure MRC's data needs were met with the new system. During implementation phase, worked as one of 3 enterprise-wide developers writing custom solutions using Salesforce.com's APEX programming language (similar to Java) and VisualForce markup language. Helped with data migration to new system.

Upon leaving the University of Arkansas, was promptly hired back by the Career Development Center on a contract basis to implement a student placement survey which gathered statistics regarding graduated students’ post-graduation status. This required building a mass-email system to invite students to participate, a web interface for students to respond, and an online data-reporting tool which provided faculty/staff the ability to view statistics and modify responses. Met with stakeholders to gather requirements and resources. Configured a dedicated Linux/Apache/mySQL/PHP (LAMP) web server in Ubuntu Linux. Built application using PHP in the CodeIgniter application framework with mySQL for data storage and extensive use of Javascript (mostly jQuery) and AJAX in the front-end (including client-side password-encryption, since the stakeholders did not want to purchase a SSL certificate for the server). The system provided single-sign-on for both students and faculty/staff by integrating with the school’s existing LDAP servers. Upon system go-live, provided system documentation and ongoing support for the system through Q3 2012;

Identified department's data needs, and filled those needs via custom database solutions. Maintained and updated dynamic, ASP.Net 2.0-driven departmental website.

Worked as sole technical staff responsible for supporting entire Human Resources Department of The University of Arkansas (~20 staff members). Maintained ~25 departmental workstations. Maintained departmental and staff data-access accounts on in-house data warehouse servers and MS SQL Server database servers. Developed and maintained HR information stores in MS SQL Server and MS Access databases (front- and back-end). Migrated all HR data solutions when database servers were upgraded to MS SQL Server 2008. Assisted various university departments in identifying data needs, and then filled those needs via data extracted from data warehouse servers and MS SQL Server servers. Maintained and updated dynamic, ASP.Net 2.0-driven HR website. Updated legacy code in HR website when a SQL-injection vulnerability was discovered in old code.

Assisted various university departments with transition from outdated, static HTML-based websites to a unified, dynamic, enterprise-level content management system (redDot CMS - www.redDot.com). Also assisted and advised within the department of University Relations as technical support for miscellaneous issues, including issues dealing with the University's exposure to the world through the Internet, as well as many every-day practical issues associated with working in a modern computerized/networked office.

Headed technical support for School of Social Work, to include support of students in computer lab and faculty/staff in offices.

Designed, built, and implemented technical solutions for a new, mid-sized local retail bookstore in Northwest Arkansas; joined the project very early (while still in the conceptual phase), and remained with the operation until the store was later sold for a profit; systems included company email/network systems (Google Apps for Domains); a networked inventory management and point-of-sale transaction system (using Microsoft Point-of-Sale), a custom-built, public-facing corporate presence (built with the CodeIgniter web application framework) and an internal content-management/customer-contact system (using Joomla CMS); also authored and oversaw the implementation of technical disaster-recovery procedures/systems, including offsite backup systems and redundant system terminals; provided operational technical assistance to store employees on an ongoing basis;
