I successfully sold Genica (see below) to Mouchel (which has since been acquired by Kier Group (a property, FM, highways and business services company) and joined as a full-time employee to deliver service innovation, operations improvement and establish commercial rigour. The acquisition included an earn-out based on performance targets which were consistently met. Key achievements:• Contract turnaround & negotiation: eliminated £700k of contractual risk (minimum spend clauses) on a £3.6m contract in my first 3 months• Delivered a new online services portal to massively reduce the cost of sale & delivery (>80% cost reduction) and improve customer experience• Successfully (re)negotiated supplier contracts, delivering £millions in savings and cost efficiencies• Provided strategic contractual and commercial advice to a consortium of police forces on a multi-million pound operational IT system

Genica was a specialist operations and supply chain consulting business, acquired by Mouchel Limited in 2013. Delivered a wide range of procurement consulting projects, predominantly in the UK local government sector, to deliver savings and design new service delivery models. Example programmes included:• Complete redesign of a county council’s residential and nursing care contracting model with a spend of over £100m per annum.• SME lead for the process mapping and requirements gathering for a large county council’s new social care management system.• Supported the definition of a new operating model for the procurement function in a key area of a local authority, leading to better ways of working and improved supplier relationships.• Implementation of collaborative procurement agreements across a range of categories for over 50 individual private sector buying entities in a UK national franchise. Delivered savings of over 10% on highly price sensitive categories such as stock paper.

I co-founded a procurement and operations consulting firm delivering cost saving and operational efficiency programmes for public and private sector organisations across the UK and Europe. Key achievements:• Designed, built and implemented a new web-based provider management marketplace to optimise quality and cost of social care in a local authority which led to 18% savings pa on a £10m spend• Delivered a number of projects with the UK Group Procurement Director of a global environmental services company. The work led to the client being awarded the CIPS Excellence in Procurement Procedures Award. Projects included the design and implementation of a new procurement Management Information reporting system, and various strategic sourcing initiatives with the wider client group of companies, including consolidating procurement requirements and coordinating purchasing strategies across all four business units on various indirect categories.• Led a combined client-consultant team of six on a 12-month aerospace manufacturing improvement project, working with the Production Manager and Plant VP of the UK facility to implement lean methodologies, supply chain optimisation and improved information systems and management practices. The project delivered an additional 60,000 production hours to the facility (15% increase) and reduced quality defects by 9%.

Masai (now Ayming) was a procurement consultancy specialising in delivering savings through innovative commercial and cost redesign approaches. Projects were delivered on a risk-reward basis and led to substantial savings in a range of indirect categories for various multinational private sector organisations, including:• FM subcontractor category optimisation - average 14% savings• Temporary agency framework for the UK’s largest foodservice organisation - average 15% savings• Renegotiation of a 2,000 vehicle fleet (cars and light commercials) for a European environmental services company

Specialising in the pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries, I worked on and subsequently led projects in the area of manufacturing improvement and lean operations. Work included cycle time and lead time reduction, productivity improvement, information systems, WIP reduction, bottleneck management, shop floor scheduling and production analysis tools.
