I'm a life-long learner in the perfect career. As an instructional designer and trainer, I've been fortunate to learn something new every day while creating and delivering courses for employees in small start-up operations as well as Fortune 500 companies. What's most exciting is delivering courses that increase individual productivity and reduce overall training costs for a client. My focus is always on determining what the learner needs to be able to do once they complete training, then providing the necessary content using the most appropriate method.During my tenure as a technical instructor at Xerox Corporation, I was part of a team at the forefront of converting Instructor-Led Training to Self-Directed Training. Using this new methodology, rather than the instructor lock-stepping a class through the training, the instructor became a mentor who provided instruction to each individual when needed. This initiative resulted in benefits to both the company and the students. For Xerox, training time was reduced by 30 to 40 percent per class.
