Special Projects Director
Facilitate operations in the Center for Student Innovation (CSI) as the assistant and sole full-time employee of the Director. Developed, designed, and installed immersive projection system and responsible for installing the video-wall computers and content. Primary expert in charge of the operation of immersive and video-wall systems. Developed and directed projects within CSI, aided students in developing projects and encouraged student involvement. Engaged in collaborative efforts with RIT personnel who used CSI. Designed, executed, and edited an immersive show about CSI for Imagine RIT in 2010. Worked on experimental farming, and designed vertical farming apparatus, which was constructed and populated with plants in conjunction with student and volunteer help. Configured and networked computers, and provided technical support for projects and information to those who used CSI. Involved in CSI planning meetings and offered solutions to further efforts. Involved in events and performed videotaping as needed. Produced several patent proposals and advised students concerning patent issues. Co-director of RIT's Community Garden.
Lecturer
Designed and taught special topics class at RIT's Center for Student Innovation (Magic Center). Class in Vertical Farming was the inagural one taught at CSI, giving students the opportunity to be involved in groups assigned to designing and fabricating the subsystems for an operating prototype vertical garden system. Activities were centered around student participation, group meetings, research and writing, and a conclusing presentation with discussion of lessons learned. (This class was co-taught with Dawn Carter, Lecturer, RIT.)
Research Staff - Technical Coordinator
Principle researcher and engineer on immersive system collaboration assignemnt, done in partnership with RMSC. Digital imaging systems were developed and content designed to display content in different immersive configurations. Collaboration with RMSC for presentation of orientation-student designed immersive content at the Planetarium, attended by the President of RIT. Immersive shows designed and assembled for the RIT College of Science Fall and Spring Open Houses. Four major sudent art projects were managed in conjunction with Stephanie Cole of the college of Imaging Arts and Sciences. Planning, designing, constructing, and operating projection exhibits for RIT's Imagine RIT in 2008 and 2009, sometimes in conjunction with students. Similar exhibits were prepared for RMSC and the Strasenburgh Planetarium. Wrote, directed, presented, and edited two immersive shows for RMSC about Geocashing and Fossil Hunting to correspond with travelling exhibits. Instructed in the use of immersive software, provided tutorials, and worked with student groups to develop immersive content. Composed immersive content highlighting important research activities at RIT. Conceived of and operated immersive shows within RIT's Immersive Theater. Experimented with stereoscopic imaging, including examples for use in medical imaging. Various other experimentation and prototyping, including summer projects with students and managing student workers. Color characterization of projectors.
