Worked with entrepreneurs to reset marketing and business development strategy, build proforma operations models and create business plans, executive summaries and PowerPoint presentations. Identified investors and supported every aspect of the fund-raising effort. Also set up business development meetings with strategic customers.

Our team won a major $750K project with a leading Japanese car company for the touchscreens with hope of being in a major car launch next summer. Launched our touchscreen and rotary technology at five international trade shows to identify non-automotive applications. Expect several significant design wins in the next six months. The 3D business unit, which was also reporting to me, made their $1 million plus quarterly forecast three quarters in a row.

Cofounded and managed a niche investment bank servicing technology, energy and life sciences industries. Built a bicoastal team (New York and California) which at its peak (pre Nasdaq crash) consisted of fifteen professionals focused on helping client companies to raise early-stage funding. Helped guide clients through the process of readjusting their market and business strategies and then creating all necessary documentation to support the fundraising process. Mentored CEOs and executive staffs and helped with all aspects of the business from executive and Board member recruiting, financial structuring, development of strategic partners, product development, early customer acquisition and team dynamics. Helped to incubate and spin-off an RF communications company, Whisper Communications, and served as VP Marketing and Sales of this company in the transition. Within one year of the spin-off, Whisper had a backlog of $80 million dollars. Worked with numerous start-up companies to understand the critical role outsourcing plays in optimizing time to market and company valuation. Pioneered ‘Just-in-Time Funding’ model for use by start-up companies utilizing the fact that the value of a product company increases predictably with reduced risk as each product development milestone is achieved. By teaming with Diablo early in the process these companies were able to lower the technical risk and achieve faster funding and customer commitments. Diablo Research was purchased by Cadence Design in December, 1999.

I started this company to pursue a huge opportunity I uncovered while working in Europe for Raychem. The plan was to be a bridge between technology providers in Europe and North America to create solutions that solved the hermetic sealing of lateral connections in a trenchless rehabilitation installation. In Germany alone this is a $20 billion opportunity. Within three months of starting the company I was already cashflow positive and had several promising product concepts and strategic relationships. The company was put on hold when I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse from Diablo Research.

Directed marketing and sales efforts in transition period after Raychem purchased the business unit I founded at Metcal. Moved to division headquarters in Belgium and launched a market study to identify, characterize, quantify and select plastic pipe-related market growth opportunities. Evaluated strategic alliance partners for SmartHeat™ gas pipe joining project which lead to a joint venture with Uponor Corporation. Wrote and began implementing a business plan to develop a proprietary line of products for the trenchless rehabilitation of pipelines.

Founded a new division utilizing Metcal's proprietary, Smart Heat™ technology for joining and repairing plastic pipe. Identified primary market opportunities, secured $10.8 million of funding from the Gas Research Institute in Chicago and helped obtain $500 K of co-funding (with $1 million equity investment) from Kubota Corp. of Japan. Developed marketing strategy, defined product requirements, licensed product line from AMP, Inc. and created sales distribution network and launched several new products to the utility industry. Had P&L responsibility for group budget of over $1.5 million. 1992 division revenues were $3.1 million. Helped to sell the division to Raychem Corporation.
