DHL’s Customer Solutions & Innovation (CSI), is a corporate business unit of DHL, looking after DHL's global top 100 customers. In this role I drove growth in the Humanitarian Aid / International Development sector across all of DHL's business units; DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Supply Chain. This included 3PL and 4PL services, courier, specialized cold chain services (including for COVID vaccines and ancillaries), eMarketPlace services and health commodity procurement. I secured DHL a place on the global UNICEF global freight contract (with spend of +US$300m per annum) and the multi-million US dollar contracts with the United Nations agencies cosigning that contract. I secured key multimillion US dollar wins with UN World Food Programme (cross border trucking contracts, COVID response airfreight and air charters). I secured key multi-million US dollar wins with governments worldwide to support their World Bank funded COVID response (World Bank - Bank Assisted Procurement). I also secured a key multimillion US dollar win with UN Peacekeeping / United Nations Procurement Division. I successfully managed strategic engagements with clients such as UNICEF, The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and partners such as MasterCard. Prior to leaving DHL, I led a partnership (DHL and external partners) and positioned the group for The Global Fund pooled procurement (PPM) procurement service agents tender - launched early 2024. I successfully managed a team of regional account managers in Europe and the US. An important aspect of this role was my ability to successfully negotiate contracts with United Nations, World Bank and Governments. I was also responsible to implement these large contracts once secured including overseeing operations, managing performance and leading business reviews with the key clients.

V.P. Emergency & Relief: I was transferred out to Washington DC to start an Emergency & Relief division in the USA, serving USAID, United Nations agencies, Red Cross and NGO's based in the Americas. Due to the timing, I successfully led the emergency response for the January 2010 Haiti earthquake, leading teams providing full air charter, airfreight, full ocean charter, ocean freight and cross border trucking between Dominican Republic and Haiti. Most of this was work was secured and successfully implemented by spending time on the ground in Dominican Republic and Haiti. Once Haiti moved into the recovery phase, I focused on growing revenue and services in other areas. Key wins included the USAID Global Health project (GHSC-PSM) in partnership with Chemonics, IBM and IDA. This is the biggest humanitarian contract globally. USAID appointed a consortium to procure and deliver $1.2 billion worth of commodities with $80-$100m freight spend per annum. It is currently being rebid under USAID NextGen A key factor in this win was the introduction of 4PL into this environment. Net profits on this contract ran at +$1.5 million US dollars per annum. I also secured several multi-million US dollar contracts to ship and distribute long lasting insecticide nets for The Global Fund, each project worth between $5 million and US$10 million, with gross profits of +15% and net profits of around 10%. I was responsible to lead a team of 10 people and also successfully managed the P&L.
