Worked as an undergraduate researcher at the Sheila David lab in the Department of Chemistry, a lab that studies DNA Repair in the BER pathway. Learned techniques in molecular biology through the mentorship of the postdoctoral researcher, Alan Raetz. Tasks included agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA methylation, PCR, and bacterial transformations.

Part of the 2016 Santa Monica College/UCLA Summer Scholars Research Program, an annual internship providing research experience for SMC students at UCLA labs. I was able to join the Spokoyny Lab Group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and continued to work there after the program.
