About Timur 'X' Khrotko

I'm a Budapest-born Russian, resident in Hungary since 1980, a cybersec/infosec expert since 2003, an MD and showrunner (and occasional trainer) at def.dev. Received my PhD degree from CUB, researched how to turn C level executives into ESG mentality. Sometimes you can call me an impresario for hackers and trainers. I manage cybersec audit projects at secmachne from time to time and get my hands dirty with Typescript code on a weekly basis. A decade ago I ran an independent software vendor developing IAM solutions which garnered an award from IT Europa for its original IdM methodology mostly based on my ideas. In OWASP Hungary chapter I've played a leading role for many years now.My hands-on experience with personal SecOps ranges from containerizing services in BSD jails (a Docker predecessor) to converting my experiences with mobile pentesting projects into pre-emptive iOS and Android usage/hardening practices. ”I would not call it a ’security mindset’, it’s balancing my ’cyber paranoia’ with some knowledge of the field and approaches I preach like ’privacy is past tense’”.
