Doctor Of Philosophy (Phd)

Eindhoven Area, Netherlands

Electrochemical reduction of CO2 to formate on indium and bismuth catalysts. Under the supervision of Prof. E.J.M. Hensen and Dr. Marta Costa FigueiredoThis project covers the construction of equipment, synthesis of catalysts, development of electrochemical cells, and (in-situ) characterization of the catalysts. I specialize in characterization techniques such as XRD, XPS, XAS, and RAMAN to understand and relate the effects of material properties including for example surface morphology and electronic structure to the catalytic performance. The goal of my research is to achieve a selectivity, productivity, and stability that is relevant for industrial applications.During this PhD, I taught inorganic chemistry to a class of over 100 students, guided four bachelor and master students in their final project, and communicated my research in posters and presentations at international conferences and meetings of the European consortium: C2FUEL.

Community Of Energy Talents

The ‘Community of Energy Talents’ (CET) is a program of the Top Sector Energy which has started in 2015. It is driven by a growing community of students that specialize in the field of energy technology. The goal is to participate in accelerating the energy-transition. As one of these students, I participated in the activities that we do as an ambassador of the energy-transition. I worked together with the energy companies by giving presentations at schools, getting involved in the discussions of experts and expanding the network of energy professionals.

Chief Chemical Team

Tu Eindhoven

Team FAST is a student team that originates from the honors program of TU Eindhoven. The goal is to introduce formic acid as a sustainable energy carrier and show the potential of synthetic energy carriers like formic acid for energy storage and usage. I participated in scaling up the technology from driving a model car to a public transport bus. As the chief of the chemical team, I led a team of ten students doing research on the catalysts and reactor for the dehydrogenation of formic acid to hydrogen. Evenually, the system was implemented in a 25 kW generator.
