This exciting venture grew into a thriving business that employed local people, involved me in speaking at National Kumon Conferences at Warwick University and London, as well as representing them in South Africa as part of a working party.Over the 10 years hundreds of students came through the doors of the Ongar Kumon Centre to develop, learn, become proficient, and improve their mental agility and ability to mathematically calculate quickly, as well as learn to be educated in reading and writing the English language. I took great pleasure in nurturing and encouraging the students, and supporting the parents. Our Awards Ceremonies were attended by MP Eric Pickles and Local Dignitaries as VIP guests and presenters of Awards. I profitably sold the Ongar Kumon Study Centre in December 2006. It was a significant and enjoyable part of my professional as a business owner and developer of people.

It was amazing to go back and teach at the school I was a pupil at after having been in the corporate world for 5 years and then completing a Bachelor of Education degree.This was a happy and memorable time where long term friends were made of both staff and pupils who still communicate with me today.
