This year an estimated 9,500 people in our area will receive the devastating news that they have cancer. Around a third will live in Sheffield, with the rest coming from as far as Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham & Chesterfield. Almost ALL will receive their treatment under Weston Park Hospital's care.For many people, the hardest thing about cancer is not the disease itself, but the enormous strain it places on your emotions, relationships and finances. These are things the medical profession alone cannot treat.As the only charity solely dedicated to supporting Weston Park's current and past cancer patients, our projects help to address these issues by providing funds for cancer treatment, research and care unavailable on the NHS.To meet our ongoing commitments to fight cancer in this region we need to raise in excess of £2m each year and rely heavily on the generosity of local communities, businesses and partnerships.I have over 25 years experience working within the charity sector.
