  • Sony Computer Entertainment America
Director, Product Development, Sony Santa Monica
Sony Computer Entertainment America Feb 2008 - Mar 2013
    San Mateo, California, Us
As Director of Product Development, I managed the External Development Department of 15 producers and designers and over a dozen independent development studios. My responsibilities included managing staff and developer relations, product planning, business strategy, budgets, reviewing concepts, negotiating deal terms, collaborating with marketing, contributing to studio planning and company initiatives. Early on, we were recognized for putting PlayStation Network on the map with highly creative, top quality downloadable games such as Flower, the PixelJunk series and Fat Princess. Our goal was to enable developers to create unique and fun experiences in hopes of broadening the market and changing the perception of video games as art. In 2012, we released 10 titles in one year which was a tremendous challenge but very rewarding. Our department gained the reputation of supporting some of the best quality and most unique indie titles in the industry, winning hundreds of awards. Journey, one of our proudest and most successful releases has won 122 awards overall and 33 for Game of the Year. I feel very fortunate to have worked with so many talented teams.Titles released include The Unfinished Swan, Journey, PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, Sound Shapes, Escape Plan, Carnival Island, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, God of War: Origins, Flower, Fat Princess, PixelJunk Monsters, PixelJunk Eden, PixelJunk Shooter 1&2, PixelJunk Sidescroller, PixelJunk 4am, Datura, Twisted Metal, Sorcery, Starhawk, and Linger in Shadows. Titles initiated include What Remains of Edith Finch, Hohokum, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Wattam, The Order and more.

As VP of Development for 7 Studios, I was primarily responsible for managing strategic relationships with business partners to secure funding for projects. In order to broaden the studio’s capabilities and reputation, I worked to create and develop original concepts, and managed pitch materials, proposals and legal agreements. The studio grew from 50 to 130 talented people, with satellite offices opened in Taiwan and Utah. I was wooed away to join Sony Santa Monica, but absolutely loved working with the 7 Studios team. A year after I left, they were acquired by Activision.
  • G4 Tv
    Vp, Program Development & Editorial
    G4 Tv Aug 2001 - Aug 2005
Prior to joining 7 Studios, I worked as VP of Program Development and Editorial at G4 Television. My role was to manage relationships with the games industry to provide content and interviews for our 24/7 programming lineup, and work with producers to develop the show concepts and editorial coverage.
  • Sony Computer Entertainment America
    Sr. Account Manager
Sony Computer Entertainment America Aug 1995 - Aug 2001

  • Sammy Corporation
    Localization Producer/Product Manager
    Sammy Corporation Jul 1991 - Jan 1993
