My thesis research is submitted for publication and available on bioRxiv https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.11.09.467950. I earned co-authorship on five additional publications for my expertise in single molecule FISH (smFISH) and image analysis, including a co-first authorship.Thesis project: "From niche signaling to its transcriptional control over 𝘊. 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘴 stem cells: an 𝘪𝘯 𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘰 view". I used the 𝘊. 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘴 germline as a model to study molecular control of the balance between stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. I mentored two undergraduate researchers, one post-baccalaureate researcher, and one Ph.D. rotation student.

Worked with spheroid cell culture as a 3-D model for tumors to determine effects of a novel COX-2 inhibitor on tumor growth. Gave a talk about my summer project at the RISE Scholar conference in Heidelberg, Germany.Duties included photographing spheroids, performing cell count, protein measurement, and cell viability assays, and using computer software to measure spheroid size and analyze data. In addition, I learned about safety regulations regarding radioactive materials as I worked in an area where radioactive compounds were frequently handled.
