Role and responsibilities: Financial consultantThe key skill is selling the financial product through educating and advising clients, and also building trust and a relationship. Responsibilities include budgeting, processing financial information and debt restructuring. I have detailed knowledge of the National Credit Act and I have become very comfortable in working in a high pressure environment both in a team and individually to achieve goals and targets. The Key Performance Areas included achieving sales targets, accurately capturing and processing data at speed and upholding values like accountability, leadership and service excellence.Skills Attained Quick problem solving and decision making – high volumes of clients and tight turnaround times, most decisions have to be taken independent of authority and reviewed in hindsight. Business writing – all communication was written and formal. Care was given to sensitive client information. Time management – sticking to time frame guidelines set by the National Credit Regulator and internally. This was vital in making us industry leaders. Stress Management and working under pressure – working with a diverse group of clients in sometimes desperate situations could take a toll if not managed carefully.
