Tiny Textures was founded by Regina Holden in 2016. Regina has a background in several different service industries, such as real estate, hospitality & travel, along with nursing. While she enjoyed each of these fields, none of them felt like her true calling. Her vision for Tiny Textures started when she met a mother who’d adopted 2 children from Haiti. Their adoptive mother was in tears describing her struggle with styling their hair. She thought she’d use styling as a way to bond with her adoptive daughters and instead this became a point of contention and greatly affected the girls confidence in their appearance. Regina began visiting twice a month to style the girls hair and teach the adoptive parents natural hair care techniques to maintain the styles between appointments. As their hair grew, so did word of mouth about Regina’s help within the adoptive community in Richmond. Tiny Textures Mobile Salon began offering in-home services to families in Richmond and the surrounding areas. Regina was the only stylist for a while, but she soon realized that there was a real need for children’s natural hair care and she would need to fill that void. On August 18, 2019, Tiny Textures Salon for Kids opened its doors. Finally, there was a children's salon that appropriately catered to both girls and boys with natural hair! Regina and her husband created a fun, imaginative, one-stop-salon offering a full range of all-natural hair care and kid-friendly spa services. Children leave feeling confident in their hair and their individuality.
