As a PhD student/early stage researcher from environmental and resources economics, my research is to develop a bio-economic model that takes climate factors, food web relations and fisheries into account. The main tools I use during the model development are Matlab and R. Meanwhile, I also work on the ecosystem services valuation and accounting. During my internship, my main task is to improve the GLOBIO model in estimating pest control services. To do this, I did the systematic review about relevant research and did a meta-analysis to adjust the pest control function in the GLOBIO model. I was under the project: Adaptation Strategy Study of Climate Change in Rice Sector in Taiwan. My main tasks were processing and analysing agricultural data from several different databases (e.g., the databases from IPCC, FAO, IRRI, and World Bank) for Input-Output (IO) model and CGE model for model expansion and revision. I also reviewed the literature about demand model, food security, crop production, IO model (application in Environment, Supply IO, MRIO), etc. for the project.
