As the only Licensed Vet Tech at this clinic, I oversee 3 floating receptionists/vet assistants. My job consists of inducing, intubating, preparing, and monitoring animals for surgical procedures. Performing dental prophylaxis and radiographs, conducting blood draws, preparing tissue samples for testing, collecting, and performing urinalysis cytology. Monitoring illnesses, administering medications, updating patient charts, and calculating fluid rates for hospitalized patients. I collect canine semen and analyze for sperm count/progression/motility, run progesterone samples, and assist with artificial insemination and surgical insemination. I sterilize incubators/surgery for emergency and planned cesarean sections and whelp puppies from the cesarean section while maintaining a specific level of cleanliness. I keep relationships with various Veterinary Distribution Companies and their Sales Representatives. I am responsible for accounts payable and keeping Quickbooks current and reconciled. I place orders as needed and monitor inventory supplies. I update Facebook and maintain the hospital website.Software experience with DaySmart Vet (Formerly Vetter), PetDesk, Quickbooks, Hippo Manager, and Trupanion Express. I traveled with various DVMs on farm calls, assisting Veterinarians by packing the truck and thinking ahead on what we may need before going out into the field for cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, camels, and horses. I responded to spontaneous emergencies in the clinic and assisted in surgery and anesthesia monitoring.
