Chief, Services Research Branch
CurrentI lead and am the architect of the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN), a 5-year $150+M initiative launched in 2019 focused on transforming responses to the opioid crisis in the justice system. JCOIN has a unique structure focused on bringing new models and approaches to bridging research and practice. As a network, JCOIN engages nearly 200 research collaborators executing >30 projects in more than 80 communities. Still in its launch phase, JCOIN has already engaged nearly 100 other key stakeholders. As the leader of this initiative, I spearheaded unprecedented interagency partnerships with the Bureau of Justice Assistance. Since 2018, I have also led the Services Research Branch at NIDA, which is collectively responsible for a portfolio of more than 400 grants focused on addiction health services research, totaling over $335M annually. In 2018-2019, I built the team from 2 people to 8 and led strategic planning and reorganization of the branch. Dr. Wiley also serves in several leadership roles in the government, co-chairing trans-NIH and trans-government workgroups.
