Holmes HS in Northside Independent School District. I moved to Rochester in 2008 to study biomedical engineering at the University of Rochester where I graduated in 2012. While completing my undergraduate studies, I co-founded MonoMano, Inc. in order to commercialize adaptive cycling products designed for stroke survivors and amputees. The work of MonoMano has been recognized with a number of awards for engineering and design. After graduating, I returned to San Antonio to pursue a graduate degree in bioengineering. I completed my PhD in biomedical engineering in the laboratory of Xiao-Dong Chen at UT Health San Antonio. My research focused on isolating healthy stem cell populations from the elderly. Following, completion of my PhD I briefly stayed on at UT Health SA as a post-doc doing regenerative medicine research with Drs. Chih-ko Yeh and Xiao-Dong Chen. Currently, I work as Principal Scientist for StemBioSys. In this role I am responsible for leading the R&D team in order to execute our company's scientific strategy. I have adjunct faculty appointments at UT Health San Antonio and Trinity University. I am a founder and partner of Et al BioCapital and Marinkovic & Block LLC. I am passionate about advancing science, especially as it relates to healthcare.

Graduate Research AssistantChen Lab Sep 2012 - Jun 2016As a PhD candidate at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), I worked full-time doing my dissertation research in the lab of Xiao-Dong Chen, MD PhD. My work focused on the identification, isolation, and subsequent expansion of a youthful sub-population of MSCs from elderly donors. Other projects included the development of an algorithm for quantifying stem cell alignment, identifying multifactorial relationships between physical properties of the extracellular matrix and stem cell function, and characterizing various changes of aging mesenchymal stem cells.

Our company designs adaptive cycling equipment for individuals with limited use of one arm. Our mission is to enable all individuals to participate in the sport of cycling as a way to have fun and get fit, regardless of physical limitations.
