-Refactored the Point of Sale terminal software on the VeriFone terminal platform. -Ported the original comms C code to C++.-Developed an Apacs30 authorization host.-Created a multithreaded XML credit card web service using Java socket communications, XML, JDBC and a MySQL database. -Replaced existing backoffice system a fully automated system capable of processing hundreds of thousands of credit card transactions a day, create payment files and send to the respective banks via FTP. Developed using Oracle DB and Python which was used for all file creation, sending the files to the banks, event monitoring and process management .-Created a web based front end that provides a powerful interface for DB management and maintenance allowing manual overrides to every automated process. Developed using Spring, JavaServer Faces, JasperReports, Tapestry and Hibernate.Worked as part of an XP team which puts a particular emphasis on test driven development and pair programming.

Kapooki was just a start up so there was a lot more work and personal responsibility with the absence of formal company development practices.
