Technical AnalystNew West Technologies, Llc Jul 2006 - Jan 2007Englewood, Co, UsWhile in this position, I acted as the Lead Technical Analyst for the Indian Housing Block Grant (Department of Housing and Urban Development). The IHBG was a formula grant that provided funds to the 562 eligible American Indians tribes located throughout the U.S. for their housing infrastructure. During my time in this position, I was responsible for maintaining the SPSS database and coding used to allocate the approximately $600M in grant funds. I routinely ran analysis to determine the affects of data and formula changes that influenced policy and procedures for the IHBG program. I also provided support to the rest of the IHBG team as needed and trained other individuals on SPSS. As educational opportunities drew nearer, I also trained and mentored my replacement as the main Technical Analyst for the IHBG program. After the transition out of the Lead Role, I continued to provide support on an "As-Needed" role before focusing entirely on my education in January of 2007.Accomplishments:• Successfully resolved several key formula errors that were being questioned by tribal entities on behalf of the Department of Housing and Urban Development• Trained staff on SPSS, tribal members and staff on IHBG, and met several key analysis deadlines for HUD in response to a lawsuit -
Intern - Assistant To Service Unit DirectorTrenton Community Clinic May 2006 - Jul 2006As an intern, I assisted the Service Unit Director in the operation of the PL 93-638 Tribal Health facility located in rural NW North Dakota that provided basic healthcare services to the American Indian population in the area. While at the clinic, I was made the lead researcher into a new and exciting tribal health program. The program was the Tribal Medicaid Administrative Match Program that would have provided financial relief to the clinic and allowed the clinic to expand its services to their service population. I was the main point of contact for the clinic in researching this program. I coordinated conference calls, made presentation and recommendations to the clinic's health board and started many conversations with the different State and Federal agencies that would need to approve this program. Unfortunately, my internship ended before I could see this program through to the implementation stage. Also during my internship, I was instrumental in the renewal of a grant for a Public Health Nurse at the clinic. Under the guidance of the Service Unit Director, I took the lead in writing and completing the grant application to renew the Public Health Nurse grant which we were able to successfully renew. The Public Health Nurse was a vital asset to the clinic as s/he would go out to the elderly individual's homes to provide basic health services and checks while also educating the community on health related issues (like diabetes) that significantly affected American Indian communities more than other communities.I also participated in the expansion of the Wellness Center onsite. This was accomplished through the acquistion of $25K in wellness equipment to provide a wider array of wellness equipment for the service population.
