T.J. Mitchell brings his legal and political skillset as a prior litigator, zoning and real estate attorney to bear at Maricopa County by assisting Supervisor Bill Gates help develop and set policy that makes Maricopa County the best place to live, work and play in Arizona. Prior to joining Maricopa County, T.J.’s legal zoning practice focused on assisting clients obtain legislative, quasi-judicial, and administrative governmental approvals including zoning/use verifications, rezoning cases, use permits, variances, and special use permits. T.J. also has substantial experience in financial and business litigation, having represented individuals and firms in private, commercial lawsuits, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitrations and in front of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Arizona Corporation Commission.T.J. is proud of his involvement in the Arizona community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Tucson-founded non-profit Third Decade and serves as the Immediate Past Chair for the Valley Young Professionals. T.J. recently served as the Vice-Chair of the Maricopa County Planning & Zoning Commission, as well as an Ambassador for medical research non-profit Tgen, and a “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona. T.J. has been a member of the Arizona Bar since 2018 and holds his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at ASU where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. T.J. also holds two B.A. degrees from The University of Arizona where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a dual major in Philosophy, Politics, Economics & Law and Religious Studies.
