In September 2008 I founded a company to manage the development of software that predicted the movement of pirates worldwide, including Somalia, Nigeria and other high-risk maritime areas based on an algorithm of my own creation. This software was subsequently licensed to a leading maritime risk-management company and is still in use today. Responsible for the design and programming of bespoke MS database applications for the Graduation and Conferments Office. These multi-table databases use import specifications that automate the process of taking data from a variety of sources. The databases incorporated very complex queries, referential integrity, clear design, automated e-mails, VB programming, produce concise and informative reports and they create their own update queries automatically as and when required. Also responsible for maintaining data quality. Other duties consisted of investigating student's suspicious claims for mitigating circumstances. The bulk of these investigations are centred on medical evidence and among my responsibilities I have to spot forged / amended medical certificates and follow up any suspicions with a full investigation, eventually presenting my findings and evidence to the deputy vice-chancellor and the secretary to the board of governors.
