I was seconded as a Legal Advisor to Defence Legal Services at NZDF Headquarters. My role included assisting on matters before the Coroner, Ombudsman, Courts Martial, and the Veteran's Entitlement Appeal Board. I also provided advice in respect of NZDF policy, and on responses to OIA and Privacy Act requests.

• I was Judge's Clerk to Chief District Court Judges Doogue and Taumaunu. My role included:
• providing research support to the Chief Judge on legal and policy issues;
• assisting with the preparation of criminal judgments and sentencings; and
• supporting the District Court bench through delivery of seminars and explanatory memoranda on significant new cases and legislation affecting the District Court's work.

Canterbury & West Coast, New Zealand

• I was a research assistant to Professors Philip Joseph KC and Karen Scott. In this role, I undertook research on:
• the law of legitimate expectation, informing Professor Joseph's chapter on the "Law of Legitimate Expectation in New Zealand" in M Groves and G Weeks (eds) Legitimate Expectations in the Common Law World (Hart.
• developments in New Zealand's administrative law cases between 2013 and 2016 for Professor Joseph, to assist with his revised 5th edition of "Joseph on Constitutional and Administrative Law"; and
• compliance mechanisms of Regional Fisheries Management Organisations for Professor Scott for a conference paper on international law.
