Working to protect our natural and historic environments and promote international partnerships.I serve as a company director and trustee of several conservation charities - including the Open Spaces Society, the West Wales Biodiversity Information Centre and the William Morris Society (where I am Vice Chair and Finance Committee Chair). Appointed to the Council of the National Trust in 2021, I also advise UK Government (DEFRA) on disbursement of funds to promote global biodiversity and climate resilience. As executive director, I formerly led a public conservation body on a UK Overseas Territory and prior to that a Wales-based, international volunteering charity. More latterly with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association I led a programme to strengthen governance and enhance public financial management across the UK Overseas Territories; and subsequently headed up the Chevening Secretariat, delivering the FCDO's flagship programme of international scholarships.Most recently, I completed an assignment as interim managing director of an international affairs think tank and joined the leadership team of the Conservative Environment Network - going on to stand as a parliamentary candidate in the 2024 UK General Election and participate in the OSCE ODIHR election observation mission to the Republic of Uzbekistan.In 2019 I was recognised as a civil society leader by the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) with a competitive place on the Jane Slowey leadership programme - receiving peer mentoring and executive coaching from Henley Business School. I pay this forward as a business development mentor with the Cranfield Trust, providing pro bono support to executive and non-executive leadership teams.I am a Fellow of both the RSA and the Chartered Management Institute, and in 2021 completed a micro-MBA programme funded by UK Government (BEIS) and framed by the principles of innovation, resilience and sustainability.
