These networks organize members based on business model (independent mortgage bankers, community banks, credit unions, warehouse lenders, and wholesale lenders) rather than policy topics. As a result, MBA leadership has access to more direct feedback on each segment’s specific policy and business concerns. These networks helped companies weather the COVID-19 pandemic and have become a major selling point for association membership.• Initiated the CEO Listening Tour to provide a more intimate alternative to major conference venues so that small-to-medium-sized members can interact with MBA leadership.DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSIONChampion DEI and association policies that increase homeownership and housing opportunities:• Spearheaded the strategic implementation plan for the MBA Chairman’s signature initiative, Creating Minority Wealth through Homeownership. The aim is to make meaningful progress toward closing the racial home ownership gap. Created a task force composed of MBA leadership and residential and affordable housing policy committees to drive program development.• Worked directly with MBA’s Chair-Elect to create DEI industry initiatives. These include the board-level Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee, programs that educate members on the need as well as the business case for DEI, and toolkits that guide companies to improve workforce diversity and conduct market outreach to communities of color.EXTERNAL & INTERNAL PARTNER RELATIONSHIPSA spokesperson, advocate, and educator for MBA’s residential policies among stakeholders within and outside the association:• Actively support the development of conferences and educational sessions that increase member awareness of MBA’s residential policy priorities and initiatives and provide practical tools for members to implement to improve their businesses.• Convey concerns raised in the business segment networks to senior MBA leaders and advise on strategies to address issues raised.• Head up MBA member and external education about Creating Minority Wealth through Homeownership. Oversee the execution of the strategic plan.• Present and advocate for residential policy and DEI before industry audiences, federal agencies, and external partners.
