Educated as an architect and environmental psychologist, my architectural and facilities services career has consisted of conducting design research to understand the building's occupant's needs; designing new and renovating existing facilities to provide environments that support those needs; evaluating facility conditions, spatial function, wellness, and user satisfaction through the facility's life-cycle; analyzing facility and occupant data to develop multi-year capital planning work plans, and improving facility design standards to prevent facility condition, function, and wellness issues in the future.My professional path has shifted recently as it became clear that my true passion lies in connecting with people and directly enhancing their day-to-day experience and well-being. Therefore, I am recalibrating my career from providing facility services externally to providing facility and workplace operations internally, providing services directly to the building's occupants. The breadth of my background in architecture, environmental psychology, workplace strategies, facility performance evaluations, and capital planning gives me confidence in my ability to make this career shift and excel in this role. Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated a passion for connecting with people and supporting them in achieving their goals. Whether optimizing workplaces and customer services at U.S. embassies worldwide, building and managing vendor relationships, connecting with colleagues and clients on topics related to our work and our lives outside of work, helping my students navigate their educational and career paths inside and outside of the classroom, or volunteering in healthcare environments for people who may need it most, my life focus is on connecting with people, asking questions, actively listening, and providing environments in which everybody feels valued and cared for and can thrive. I have strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills supported by my proven track records in management, collaboration, and leadership. These skills, which have a foundation in thoughtful communication, interpersonal skills, organization, and time management, are all transferrable and make me well-suited for this transition in my career.
