I have been working with technology at a low level throughout my entire life, and professionally for 25 years. My career has focused upon Linux, with an emphasis on IT Operations and Security. I am a generalist with a constant drive to branch out and learn new areas in data analytics, software development, database, networking, security, operating systems, and business continuity/disaster recovery planning. This has served me well by understanding the views of my colleagues and customers, and being able to solve complex problems with interactions between these components. It also keeps me current with new developments. In 2021 I leveraged this curiosity into a degree in Computer Science.I work well in a crisis, and tend to jump into a leadership or coordinating role. When incidents arise, I continue to work continuously until they're solved. When not in that mode I'm creating ways to detect and prevent future incidents or provide a "safety net" when they occur.During my career I've worked in many environments and modes. I've been at the largest and smallest of companies. I've been the only IT person wearing a dozen hats, and part of large teams where my role was more specific and well-defined. I've spoken at conferences, taught classes, performed research, and written successful large grant proposals. I thrive upon change, and can't wait to see what's down the road!
