I am a student-centered educator best characterized as a school leader, innovator, designer, policy wonk, student, shoulder-to-shoulder collaborator, & roll-up-my-sleeves maker. I am invested in and feel responsible for transforming the way schools engage and prepare our young people in the 21st Century -- and the way we support those adults who surround them in school. My approaches are informed as both a researcher grounded in the evidence-based fields of professional learning community and positive psychology, as well as a practitioner with first-hand knowledge of how teams, schools, districts, networks, and states operate organizationally. Our shared work and results are enhanced by the power of creating a schoolwide culture of sustained support for creativity, growth, and doing. I foster communities of practice for adults and students -- the kinds that permit and encourage us to “Fail Forward.” And as we make progress together, audacious deeper learning is achieved, community impacts emerge, and life trajectories are tilted upward.
