Over the past two decades, my teaching philosophy has evolved into a robust framework, encapsulated within three closely interconnected realms: the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, High-Impact Practices (HIPs), and Purposeful Learning.Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is an approach often referred to as the Boyer (1990) model. In this approach, I incorporate project-based exercises that involve students in both the learning process and its outcomes. My teaching philosophy aligns with the established five principles of SoTL, as delineated by Felton (2013): a focus on student learning through inquiry, grounding in contextual relevance, methodological rigor, collaboration with students, and appropriate public dissemination. I emphasize the value of High-Impact Practices. These practices foster collaboration and active student engagement, thereby cultivating a dynamic learning experience. My approach revolves around integrating creative projects, internships, and service learning opportunities to encourage holistic and immersive learning.A central tenet of my philosophy is the emphasis on "why." I strive to imbue my teaching with a clear purpose—why the material matters, why it warrants attention, and why students should care about mastering it. As I design courses, projects, assignments, and learning outcomes, I anchor them in purposeful objectives. The underlying goal is to equip students with skills essential for entering the workforce, internships, or certification exams.My teaching philosophy entails providing students with intellectual challenges that stimulate new ideas, concepts, and practical skills. I tend to use projects which use real-world applications that impact businesses and organizations partnered with our business program. Through problem-solving and critical thinking exercises embedded in course content and projects, students enhance their learning experience, self-esteem, and confidence.I challenge students to think critically through practical assignments that demand problem-solving skills, analyzing real-life cases, completing corporate projects, simulation gaming, and practical on-site experiences. A successful class for me is one in which students leave with enthusiasm and anticipation for the next session. Remaining at the forefront of technological advancements is vital to my teaching approach. I continuously strive to innovate and embrace the latest industry-related content and tools. This dedication to cutting-edge methods is a consistent thread in all my courses, research, and public presentations.
