In my last year at University, my final year project was based on a newly emerging restraint in the aerospace industry. I worked tightly together with Airbus and their research team. My task was to develop a validation method for finite element analysis created in Abaqus using digital image correlation data. This new tool is to be used in industry by senior engineers. I have created different automated processes based on a multivariable function recognition method. Being computationally very expensive I wrote a machine learning algorithm in MATLAB which reduced the computational time drastically, by a factor of 80. I carried out extensive research in solid mechanics, data analysis and MATLAB coding which has greatly enhanced my ability to tackle new problems in the future. Since then, I have been approached by members of industry from the USA, who would like to implement my results into their systems.

- Designed the top-level assembly tree and generated a 3D Top-level assembly model of the Merlin training enclosure using Solidworks and its Product Design Management system. - Conducted linear and non-linear FEA simulations, ie. static, fatigue and buckling analyses.- Compiled technical reports to support certification of the training system.- Ensured new modelled parts met customer requirements through supervision of manufacturing engineers and design process management. This led me to win the RMS UK Monthly Excellence Award upon delivering the first set of 3D models and drawings on time and within budget. - Reduced programme costs by proposing and developing automated tools with VBA for the Merlin CROWSNEST certification management database.- Created and oversaw a new set of procedures for the CROWSNEST Programme Competency Management System which was operating under DAOS and AAOS. - Generated 2D drawings for the Royal Navy Manufacturing Engineers which met military standards.
