Rebuilt the IT Infrastructure at all our sites around the world and simplified our infrastructure stack to improve performance, reliability and remote management. We implemented a laptop replacement process including disposing of the used laptops to employees and local organizations that reuse the laptops in the community. We successfully built a more customer focused IT team.My engineering team migrated our entire product infrastructure from hardware to Google’s (GCP), reducing costs and increasing capacity and reliability. This included team members acquiring new skills and embracing the devops practices including modular infrastructure, mature approach to monitoring and automation of repetitive tasks.

I started by building the team necessary to implement an IT Infrastructure that met the needs of the business. We addressed process and organizational improvements. Then the team built a roadmap and implemented it systematically and collaboratively on behalf of the business.The global systems that have been implemented in these four years include: A new ITIL compliant helpdesk and an operations focused change management application, migration to Office 365 (SaaS) of over 3,000 mailboxes, a global Wide Area Network (WAN), the Local Area Network (LAN) at all 23 sites, Commvault based Backup Systems, Netapp Corporate Storage, and a VMWare based “private cloud” server environment. All the while maintaining our focus on excellent customer service. Our customers regularly tell us that they love calling the helpdesk. The most common observation we hear is that we have turned around the reputation of IT at TriQuint.

We also implemented an open source SIP based call control system on Intel x86 hardware to route internal calls on net thus saving the cost on toll calls, back when toll calls cost money. We were a converged voice and data team and we did lots of cool stuff!
