Teresa Matsi is an accomplished board member and CEO with a multi-decade track record of transformational leadership, strategy development, execution, and risk management. She has deep experience across business complexities, including restructurings and turnarounds. She is a high-impact talent manager and culture transformer, as well as a disciplined financial and sales executive, with substantial experience in financial oversight, HR and operations management, international supply chains, go-to-market strategies, investor relations, B2B, B2C, E-commerce, and franchise channels. She has expertise in the agriculture, consumer perishables, commercial banking, real estate investment, and hospitality industries.Teresa serves on the board of Pacific Valley Bancorp, Salinas, CA, (OTCMKTS: PVBK) a $500+ million in assets community bank focused on agriculture, commercial real estate, and cannabis industries, as a director, audit committee chair, member of the assets/liability committee and IT committee member. Teresa is also an independent trustee on the board of The James Irvine Foundation, which has an endowment in excess of $3 billion and supports low-income workers. She is a member of the audit and finance & administration committees. Since 2015, Teresa has been CEO of Matsui Nursery, the premier US grower of potted orchids. The company serves national grocery chains including Albertsons, Whole Foods Market, and Trader Joe’s, as well as premium regional grocers such as Bristol Farms, Harmons, Nugget Markets, and New Seasons.Teresa led the transition from founder to the next generation of leadership and brought financial and operational discipline into this legacy business. She focused the company’s go-to-market strategy, reduced the number of customers from 200 to less than 50, reduced headcount by 40%, closed and sold two production and sales locations, and eliminated unprofitable business lines while maintaining revenues. In the process, Teresa defeated a union drive and improved employee relations. Teresa’s previous roles include CEO of InnWorks, a hotel management company operating a portfolio of 21 franchised hotels across 10 states, with approximately $15 million in revenue and up to 350 employees. She also served as CFO of The USA Group, a real estate syndication firm she co-founded, which raised $25 million for hotel acquisitions, in under six years.Teresa is director-certified by the NACD and holds their cybersecurity certification. She was named a “Director to Watch” by Directors & Boards in its 2023 gender diversity roster.
