Deployed AWS WAFv2 to both Cloudfront and ELB ingress resources on GoFundMe to introduce network traffic rate-based blocking in addition to moving block and allow logic further toward the edge.Devised a data reporting pipeline for WAFv2 logging utilizing Kinesis Firehose and a Python Lambda function to query log data in S3 with Athena. Results reported to Slack and Sumologic.Integrated GeoIP2 NGINX plugin and dataset on legacy load balancing, web application, and API EC2 compute tiers to provide richer geographic information from IP addresses for more intelligent application logic.Implemented Hashicorp Vault using ECS to host the application, DynamoDB for multi-region replicated storage, and KMS for Seal management. Sole DevOps resource for San Diego Studio providing cloud architecture and software deployment support and automation in addition to 24/7 on-call assistance.Performed the migration of tens of development and production server environments from an aging OpenStack cloud to AWS. Migrations were coordinated with IT, QA, and product development teams to minimize business impact.During the AWS migrations, several backend systems were migrated from manually managed clusters to AWS managed services. Examples: MySQL to RDS, Redis to ElastiCache, HAProxy to ELBv2.Collaborated with developers and data analysts to design and deploy a real-time analytics pipeline based on Apache Kafka, Spark, and Zeppelin. Participated in a 24/7 on-call rotation.Introduced a root cause analysis process for major online environment outages to understand outage causes and provide remediation plans to prevent further outages.Developed a deployment and process control script (Bash) for a new game server set, in concert with the server team development cycles. The deployment automation was utilized by all development and production deployments for that title.Deployed the previously mentioned game server set to AWS VPCs in multiple regions, worldwide, to provide better latency to regional game players.
