R&J Hogg Ltd are a main contractor specialising in traditional building works in particular churches and historic building restoration. We enjoy the reputation of being one of the leading contractors in this field of construction within the East Anglia region. Our work force of approximately 40 tradesmen mix traditional and modern practices to deliver quality projects over a range of construction types. We regularly work on projects ranging from small domestic repairs to contracts exceeding a million pounds. As the only Quantity Surveyor in the company my role encompasses an in depth knowledge of all the ongoing projects and contracts. As QS my main function is to administer the contracts, value the work performed with a view to making monthly applications for payment, estimate new and additional work and provide cost information to clients. I deal with a wide range of customers each requiring a unique approach, such as Eclesiastical bodies, councils, private clients, architects, project QS’s and government organisations such as the National Trust and Historic England.Additionally to this, I perform various project managerial activities for on-site operations when required, and office management. In addition to working full time hours I attended the University College of Estate Management and obtained, with merit, a Masters Degree in Quantity Surveying in 2018.

Working in tandem with two assistants to manage projects that test, accredit and implement customer point of sale equipment. This role demands a combination of technical knowledge relating to card processing with a high level of organisation and project management. It also requires a high level of customer relations, effective communication and building stakeholder relationships. Responsible for the many of the higher profile customers like Morrisons, Co-Op, Ladbrokes, 3G and large software houses. I am also responsible for two assistants working solely on my projects, one of whom was new to the business so required full training and guidance.My key responsibilities are to be in constant communication with various stakeholders over 20+ projects, help with new business tenders, to have an in depth knowledge of industry rules and standards, manage and exceed customer expectation. Assist in the live implementation of POS products. Manage assistant work load, responsible for training.Some of the key skills involved in this job are technical analysis skills, communication, relationship building, organisation, problem solving, planning, organisation and working to deadlines.
