With industry leadership positions in medical, satellite, military, telecommunications, wireless and telecom industries, and founding a number of startups in the internet growth sectors, Terry finally settled in the energy industry by joining Sempra Energy Utilities; where he was the chief technology strategist and enterprise architect. Within that footing in the early 2000's, he ultimately pioneered the smart grid movement in USA, and co-founded internationally acclaimed GridWise Alliance. Due to his ground-breaking work designing and developing commercial grade microgrids, he formed General Microgrids, with many government-driven projects across North America, India, east Africa and Australia. His primary fields of interest remain in modernizing any nation's electric power grid and applying new ways of delivering sustainable, economic and reliable power, especially including microgrids. He frequently consults to investors, focused on clean and high-tech industries and he is a highly sought after speaker on smart grid, distributed resources, microgrids, and standards and renewable energy integration. He serves as US Federal Advisor to various agencies, as well as past work with emerging technologies for the California Energy Commission. He has chaired many trade alliance groups across numerous nations.
