The Community Affairs Council is a policy advisory committee tasked to accomplish the following goals through a systematic process:- Identifying community issues of concern to Boulder Chamber members- Educating the Chamber membership on community issues of importance to Boulder business interests- Soliciting input from Chamber members concerning community issues of importance to Boulder business interests- Recommending policy issues to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors on community issues of importance to Boulder business issues.

Technology Made Obvious -- Recognizing and navigating the impact of digital transformation within business, non-profits and media.I launched my own firm to continue offering best of class consulting, advocacy and guidance. Serving organizations seeking technical implementation planning and strategic consultation services, I work with a select group of small business and non-profit organizations to provide research, recommendations and reporting on technical trends and market viability. Successful projects include: a multi-stage engagement with a startup client to determine a software development strategy for a partnership with a national non-profit culminating in a five-figure seed capital investment commitment; consulting on IT management responsibilities for a nationally recognized craft brewery during an internal transition; and modernizing a national manufacturer's production process for touch screen information systems. I consistently produce results--cost savings, efficiency gains at least 30-50% improvement, and competitive industry advantage. My continuing education and advocacy engagements allow me to decode fads from trends, thereby giving clients confidence in technical decision making prior to budgeting significant resources.

The goal of House of Genius is to assemble interesting, diverse groups of people to focus their collective creativity and experience to explore, discuss and solve important problems of entrepreneurship. We hold evening sessions once a month in cities around the world.I manage the talented organizing team for Boulder--the first House of Genius location--to achieve our mission to create highly collaborative experiences for entrepreneurs and community leaders, and set and meet funding objectives through sponsorships. I also curate guest panels comprised of new collaborators from throughout the community.

Engage Colorado / Engage Here Here was founded with the goal of bringing communities together to unite around and share ideas across geographic and industry boundaries. With an emphasis on inclusiveness and augmenting the network effect, Engage supports a culture of openness and information exchange through events and introductions across startup ecosystems.

Catalyze CU is a startup accelerator designed for CU Students and Faculty. Catalyze CU combines world class mentorship and equity free grants with the University’s most promising ideas and technologies. Through this combination, Catalyze CU provides the driving force to make these ideas and technologies succeed.

Immediately following the 2013 flooding along the front range of Colorado, I helped organize an emergent volunteer group that would become Boulder Flood Relief (under the operational umbrella Boulder Relief, Co.) This Boulder based 501(c)3 is a disaster-response group comprised of community-focused volunteers. We empower collaborative and compassionate relief from within the affected community, developing innovative ways to facilitate people helping people—neighbors helping neighbors. Our aim is to organize a rapid response to changing conditions by leveraging resources, expertise and flexibility in coordinating community driven efforts. We align with other organizations, groups, and agencies to ensure that needs do not go unmet or unattended. We fill gaps in traditional disaster relief assistance by creating a replicable and scalable model for swift, agile grassroots disaster relief efforts.Boulder Relief’s mission is to provide an organizational infrastructure to quickly mobilize volunteers for community disaster relief and recovery.

I coordinate a talented team of volunteers, hosts, presenters, and companies looking to make Boulder Startup Week an awesome and inspiring experience.

I developed a comprehensive IT business services platform to embrace new market opportunities, growing the company's core competencies and establishing greater technical credibility. I helped grow the company from two full time employees serving a handful of businesses and individuals to becoming one of the premier IT service providers in Boulder. During my tenure, revenues grew significantly, with a staff of ten full time employees and a showcase storefront on Pearl Street. I closed deals with several name-brand business clients and non-profits. In developing the company brand, character and visibility I was active in professional organizations and was responsible for networking, marketing, messaging and community outreach. Consulting and advising area businesses and clients on their IT strategy and expenditures reinforced my understanding of technological transformation as it impacts businesses. I involved myself in all stages–requirements gathering, design, planning, implementation and support—to ensure the scalability, extended capacity and stability of each implementation. As iSupportU grew, I interviewed, vetted and trained new employees. I also conducted personnel reviews and set expectations for success. My personal values and commitment to the ideals of the company are reflected the initial company mission statement that I composed with the founder and CEO: "To provide personable solutions that simplify a technical world."

Introduced and implemented modern content management systems (including blogs and wikis) for enhanced information organization and dissemination to pre-sales technical support team members serving Sun’s inside sales group. My contributions resulted in greater credibility and increased visibility from senior management. Collaborating with team members and system administrators to update knowledge management systems with accurate information on new products afforded me perspective on business process during a time of significant change within Sun during their acquisition by Oracle.

I served as an instructor within ITT's School of Information Technology delivering lectures and labs on server operating systems and information security concepts. I organized course curriculum around personal and professional experiences to deliver engaging lectures and lab sessions to students in the Bachelors and Associates degree programs. Class sizes ranged from 10-30 students and I enjoyed cultivating my students' interests and contributing to their professional development. I consistently received high marks from students and administrators for teaching and managing course requirements. I participated in faculty in-service events to enhance experience and gain knowledge of opportunities and market forces influencing student success.

Based on my success with Public Interactive, I was selected to manage PRI's first project for organizing digital assets and exploring new distribution and licensing opportunities. Instrumental in the conceptualization and development of PRI’s Digital Distribution Initiative, my project served as a framework for aggregating digital assets within PRI. The prototype also became a model for an additional component of Public Interactive's suite for nationwide public broadcasters. In step with managing this project, I continued to advocate new media opportunities and aided in the navigation of emerging technologies within PRI and as a participant and presenter at industry conferences and in exploratory meetings. I was glad to cultivate strong relationships with executives, senior management and station leads throughout the public broadcasting industry, arranging regular outreach and discovery conversations with representatives from major market radio and television stations, NPR and PBS.

Entering as a junior developer analyzing streaming log files for partnered public radio stations, I quickly ascended to Lead Systems Engineer by taking responsibility for the technical infrastructure of Public Interactive's web and development servers. I led the design and implementation of the complex information technology infrastructure to support nearly 200 public broadcasting affiliates. This resulted in a two-fold increase of service capacity and opportunities to meet the needs of majormarket clients. In the process, I maximized budget and technical resources, often repurposing assets to recognize every available benefit while negotiating with vendors to meet immediate and long term goals. Through the course of successfully managing concurrent projects, I identified the need for and established collaborative knowledge retention systems to aid in documenting decisions and handling trouble tickets. Recognizing the opportunities emerging in our market and responding to our clients’ questions about digital media, I became the point person on related distribution methods and strategies within Public Interactive as well as a voice within the broader public broadcasting community.

• Primary liaison between Zipcar and partnered service providers. Daily tasks included negotiating service contracts, specifying deliverables, and working to resolve disputed claims that would affect budget resources.• Facilitated fleet availability and contributed information to forecast upcoming usage trends. Arranged appropriate service response to allow for maximized usage and customer experience.• Verified operability of Zipcar's primary assets and efficiently respond to member and company concerns via on-site visits. Serviced in-vehicle cellular modems and smart-card readers.• Dedicated creativity and spontaneity in order to maintain a proactive approach that identified problems before they impacted service.• Promoted the value and adoption of Zipcar’s socially responsible services and products.• Mastered the art of driving, navigating and parking throughout the cities of Boston, Cambridge and Somerville.

• Responsible for administering and securing a diverse enterprise environment of large-scale bioinformatics systems. This included managing the complex transition of Genomics’ production servers, databases and storage arrays to a new co-location facility. • Established Genomics’ network monitoring structure to provide pertinent real-time data for capacity planning, system maintenance and overall enterprise resource utilization.• Point person on security issues. Responded to instances of compromise, executed system assessments, and provided penetration testing against vulnerable assets. • Responsible for development of DMZ allowing remote consultants secured access to enterprise resources.

I wrote feature articles (including a cover feature) and product reviews following rigorous testing I designed and conducted. I cultivated industry contacts with vendors, fellow journalists and other professionals based on my research.

I provided technical acumen and currency for select projects requiring high level proficiencies in system security and administration. Client projects included: a Sendmail server implementation for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. to service the mail needs of their members; and a security needs assessment and compliance review of JuniorNet.com, a Boston startup delivering licensed online educational content for children.
