Aspiring Leaders is a leadership pipeline program in which participants have the opportunity to work under the mentorship of a CMS executive officer. Aspiring Leaders are also charged with developing a change project that addresses a need within the district. My time was spent working under CMS Superintendent Dr. Clayton Wilcox. As a part of this program, I researched the impact of ethnic studies programming within our district and found that exposure to ethnic studies curriculum positively influences achievement for students of color. This project was based on the findings from A Stanford study authored by Dee and Penner.
