I conducted research in the field of Physics Education Research (PER), with my dissertation focusing on how students use information about physical quantities to develop concepts and make decisions.Throughout my graduate work, I was heavily engaged in the statistical analysis of student data - both in the form of carefully designed, well-understood data sets and open-ended datamining of ill-defined datasets. Ultimately, these experiences led me to a deep appreciation for data and measurement, and encouraged me to pursue Bayesian methods for a more rigorous investigation of data and the underyling student concepts of physics.
