Focusing on the Piedmont region of North Carolina, I coordinate and conduct STEM and life science programs to schools (middle and high) and community colleges. I work collaboratively with life science industry groups and BioNetwork staff to create conventions that promote educational pathways to life science workforce needs. These entities are implemented.

Four Oaks, NC

Utilizing Johnston Community College's resources, I developed and taught natural science and recreational programs for all audiences, both onsite and offsite. I also utilized a variety of marketing outlets (including social media) to promote educational offerings and exposure to the learning center. Other duties included daily care and exhibit maintenance.

Prairie Ridge Ecostation, Raleigh, NC

Created and led weekend programs for the general public at Prairie Ridge Ecostation, a facility that is part of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences family. Often, programs must be adapted on demand in order to accommodate unexpected groups and visitors.

Durham, NC

Developed and taught 10 different programs to children in grades K – 5; review participant surveys to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Planned and executed STEM Day workshops for 800+ participants and assisted with evening outreach events, worked with school administrators to plan and.

Gastonia, NC

Conducted monthly checks of active cleanup sites and semi-annual checks of sites in North Carolina and South Carolina. Managed and tracked maintenance budgets. Used Excel to analyze data and AutoCAD to create site maps used in state reports.

Wilson, NC

Launched two new summer camp programs working within a strict budget; allocated resources and managed an assistant. Increased interest in museum programs through increased advertising within and outside the museum and built relationships with the City of Wilson and Wilson Community College to support new programs.

Wilkerson Nature Preserve Park

Leveraged resources to develop and present natural science programs to students ages PreK - 5 and the general public. Utilized a variety of formats, from structured indoor and outdoor programs to visitor interactions on the trails and in the park office. Maintained program supplies and upkeep of park office and equipment.

D.H. Hill Library

I worked within the Technology Lending Program at the Learning Commons in D.H. Hill Library. I oversaw checking in/out of laptops, digital voice recorders, video games and controllers, digital cameras and video cameras, iPods, and GPS units to students and patrons. I also maintained student/patron information, as well as follow ups of devices checked out.

As a stewardship intern, I participated in many conservation/maintenance projects that incorporated with many of their properties. However, my primary focus was the recently-acquired Irvin Farm, now Learning Outside. Projects included disposing of aged farm buildings, logging trails construction, and walking trails maintenance.
