The API allowed us to use a subscription provider that reduced transaction fees by 1% per sale.• Migrated our RESTful shipping web application API from PHP to Node.js. This saved hundreds of dollars / month and allowed me to use Jasmine TDD in future sprints.• Developed a web application to track warehouse inventory using Vue.js. Cypress testing helped ensure a good result. The application transformed a paper-based process to an online, searchable dashboard.• Enforced JavaScript linting on all repositories in git pre-commit hooks. This resulted in a common style and made the code easier to read and maintain.

Promoted portability and debugging by documenting the API.• Decreased the frustration of searching Podio by creating a Node.js Slack command that looks up information from Podio’s API and returns it in a user-friendly format.• Converted a spreadsheet into an AngularJS web application that shows users the best poker hand to play in various situations. This conversion reduced the time to get to the information from 20 seconds to less than 1 second and made it look great on mobile devices. The client liked it so much he asked me to make six more web applications for him.

Lead backup administrator for a multi-million-dollar bank. In addition to my technical duties, I also spent substantial time passing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and SOC 2 audits, creating and documenting new procedures, creating budget cases, and participating as a core member of the disaster recovery team. Highlights include:• Wrote a script to changed the security on over 800 production network shares. This was done without generating a single support call, and we passed an audit as a result.• Automated the user account creation process and many of the mundane user-access-related tasks with PowerShell, reducing the time needed to provision a new user account by 60%.• Wrote a script that reformatted almost a million email rules while migrating from an old email gateway to a new one, eliminating the need for our users to re-create their block / allow email rules. This was done without generating a single support call.• Wrote a script that integrated with Altiris software deployment software to 1) update a software program, 2) update Windows-registry-based connection settings, and 3) locate and update filesystem-based connection files. The deployment updated software on hundreds of computers, saved untold hours for our technical support team, resulted in a significantly more-secure environment, and we passed an audit as a result.• Designed and monitored server backups using EMC Avamar and Symantec Backup Exec.• Wrote policies and procedures that were reviewed and approved by management.• Troubleshot server failures, RemoteAccess, DFS, DFSR, DNS, and DHCP.• Operated the production and development Exchange email systems.• Performed basic iSeries operations.
