About Tim Van Lit
✅ Academic thinking✅ Military discipline✅ Politically sensitive✅ Socially involvedI am driven and work hard. I value humor and flexibility and always look for trust-based cooperation. In my spare time I train for triathlons or spend time outside with the dog. At the end of the day I like to be in the kitchen or at the BBQ - even in winter.During my work and PhD research I am interested in large, complex issues. I do not shy away from (politically) sensitive subjects. I like challenges; specifically to change an information or organizational 'chaos' into 'order', 'overview' and 'insight'.In my work and life I use my own ideas and principles, study background, operational and managerial experience. But above all: the people around me who have a good idea or who do not (yet) feel sufficiently involved.

Current
Phd Candidate Sociology Of Law
CurrentWithin the field of Sociology of Law I conduct qualitative and quantitative research into the use of force by officers of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (RNM). I specifically focus on the influences of organizational factors on the discretionary decision to use force during the execution of police tasks in The Netherlands. Organizational factors within the RNM are, for example, the type of leadership, the level of militarization, socialization processen, perceptions of work and the risks involved with this work.My research relates to a growing academic and societal interest in use of force by police officers, discretionary decision-making processes and hybridization and militarization of security.Website: https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/staffmembers/tim-van-lit#tab-1
