Contract applying expert knowledge of Algorithmics implementation at Swedbank to assist Group Risk Control to upgrade their Market Risk/Algo Risk systems to latest Algo One/ARA versions.Highlights include:· Expert guidance during selection of 3rd party grid engine solution to faciliate "sideways scaling".· Enhancing the batch infrastructure to allow fully scaled “adhoc” simulation and reporting batches over weekends & public holidays.· Enhancing the batch infrastructure to facilitate more timely & resilient reporting batches by splitting simulation runs on both scenario set & source system dimensions.· Timely resolution of technical issues associated with software upgrades & changes of hardware platform.· Mentoring of permanent staff in technical & design aspects of the system.

Contract applying expert Algorithmics implementation experience on their Solvency II/Economic Capital and ALM projects.Highlights include:· Developing the methodology to streamline the liability upload process from 4+weeks to 3-4 days. Building the tools necessary to support this.· Designing and overseeing systems integration test tasks for the entire process workflow from initial pre-processing and data upload to final risk factor attribution reports.· Mentoring/training of permanent staff on supporting the various components of the system throughout the process life cycle.· Reverse engineering the Capital Workflow Manager schema to add enhanced reporting & approval capabilities.· Designing and building a set of tools to create and trigger Algo Risk economic capital reports through middleware so that the processing is distributed efficiently across a large blade based Linux grid.

Initially hired as an Integration Engineer working on the technical implementation of Algorithmics products to calculate enterprise wide risk management reports on market risk, credit risk & economic capital for banks, insurance companies & other financial institutions throughout Europe.Over time my responsibilities grew to cover:o Technical team mentoring & leadershipo Requirements identification & specificationo Hardware sizing & performance tuningo Technical architecture & designo Project leadershipI led implementation teams of financial engineers/quantitative analysts & integration engineers on projects with Algorithmics' resource budgets up to 1,500,000 EUR.I consistently delivered projects that met clients requirements on budget and on time thanks to:o Careful identification of requirementso Definition & management of scopeo Identification of project tasks & costso Identification & mitigation of project risksI designed effective process and component workflows of complex enterprise-wide risk management systems for large institutions trading in many financial centers across the world (i.e. different time zones, source data windows & report availability requirements).I designed robust & scalable technical architectures utilizing Algorithmics' products, third-party & bespoke components deployed on both large SMP and distributed systems for many different clients.I had excellent success solving issues on complex implementations such as real time systems & multi-tier applications deployed on network infrastructure distributed across many geographical locations.I gained a great deal of experience on Risk Management business processes, calculations, aggregation and reporting requirements including a variety of attribution methods. Initially based in Gatwick, responsible for technical support & development in the Data Management products group. I spent the last 3 years at client sites in London & Aberdeen, assisting with corporate database implementations & migrations, giving high profile rollouts, training, support and working closely with the end-users.Project management of Texaco (UK) corporate database migration from an in-house developed system built on Sybase/VMS to a commercial system based on Oracle/Solaris to assure Y2K compliance. Delivered ahead of time, on budget & with a very high level of customer satisfaction.Post-migration project analysis at BP Amoco (Aberdeen). Trained the service delivery staff running this out-sourced data management operation to improve system reliability, performance & functionality as well as helping to raise the profile of the new implementation. Assisted with developing quality procedures.Amerada Hess (UK) corporate database migration. Initially assisting with developing enhancements to the new system prior to rollout, I subsequently trained 200 end-users during the rollout process and then gave onsite technical support for a period of 15 months. During this time I worked closely with end-users & support staff studying workflow, identifying & developing system enhancements.

Working within the Exploration Services group, supporting their UNIX & PC network & applications.I was responsible for all systems & database administration.I developed the databases and the software tools to support Interpretation, New Ventures, Marine Operations & Sales.

Designing, building & operating equipment to carry out airborne geochemical remote sensing & ground based gas chromatograph surveys. I wrote the flight navigation, data acquisition & recording software.
