Environmental Compliance Specialist Iii
Current- Conducts federally-mandated routine inspections on Public Drinking Water Systems to validate compliance with their respective operating permits and the Rules & Regulations for Safe Drinking Water. - Conducts federally-mandated evaluations of land-developing activity permitted through the National Pollutant Discharge & Elimination System to validate each facility's compliance with their respective permits and the State Rules & Regulations promulgated under the Clean Water Act.- Technical reporting of the above evaluations, including analysis of construction Best Management Practices (BMPs) for Erosion & Sedimentation control and contaminant sampling in drinking water distribution lines. - Issues enforcement upon facilities operating in violation of their permits and/or State environmental protection laws. This includes writing legal documents & negotiating terms of financial penalties and corrective actions required by the facilities to return to compliance. - Responds to community complaints/concerns for water/air/land contamination through education, investigation, enforcement, or other means of resolution.- Coordinates & facilitates training and outreach with municipal governments. - Assists with team management & new-hire training under the supervision of my Program and District Managers.- Attends state meetings, breakout sessions, and conventions to discuss District operations and develop/implement programs for streamlining and unifying GA EPDs mission.- Attends training and digests relevant reading material to enhance my knowledge/understanding of the programs I regulate and improve working-relationships with the regulated community.
