After co-founding Cannabiszorg, my job was focused on ensuring that our patients received safe and pure medicinal cannabis oils that contain THC and CBD. As chemist and technical director, I designed a pharmaceutical laboratory for cannabis extraction and production of THC & CBD products. I was responsible for the entire production process, where I developed and validated all the extraction protocols, chemical analysis and the product line.Cannabiszorg is the first European compounding pharmacy completely specialized in medicinal cannabis. At Cannabiszorg medicinal cannabis oil is prepared from medicinal cannabis using CO2 extraction.

My postdoctoral research involved studying novel antimicrobial strategies to overcome issues with antimicrobial-resistance in bacteria. The research was based on on hybrid cationic peptides, which I designed, synthesized and biologically evaluated in our laboratory facilities. As part of this project I setup and managed the microbiological laboratory. I was also involved in projects on glioblastoma (brain cancer) and synthetic Ebola & HIV vaccines. The last two projects were performed in collaboration with the Beatson institute and the Centre for Virus Research.
