I am a professional Trumpeter, Jazz Musician and Brass Teacher based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Currently teach privately one-to-one and through Roundhay Music (Leeds), as well. For the past, year I have also been working for Harrogate Music Centre as the youth wind band conductor and coach preparing the students for several concerts. Recently I studied for a Masters in Jazz Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama which I completed in 2018. Alongside this, I taught private students and in several schools across London. As well as this, I perform in various jazz groups and brass bands which includes; my own jazz sextet, Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra and Hammonds Saltaire Brass Band. Aside from playing the trumpet and cornet, I also compose and arrange a large proportion of the material performed by my sextet group and do arrange for big band also.Frequently, I still perform with several Big Bands in London including the Willie Garnett Big Band, Denmark St BB and Old Street Big Band. The venues I have performed in include The Barbican, The Vortex, Jazz Cafe POSK, Royal Albert Hall and Milton Court Concert Hall. Until 2015, I served in the British Army as a musician in the Royal Artillery Band. Whilst in the band I performed at state engagements in London, the UK and abroad. I also attended the PTI (physical training instructor) course at Aldershot learning many techniques on how to teach and deliver instruction. Previous to joining the army, I gained a Jazz Studies Degree at Leeds College of Music where I also sang as a Bass Choral Scholar at Leeds Parish Church, now Leeds Minster.
