I work in the Assurance section of Fraud Investigation/ Dispute Services in support of client audit teams. The major tools for the work are SQL, Excel, R and Tableau or Spotfire. I have also acquired new skills in the Agile methodology for software development.

Responsibilities: Creation of automated scripts and dashboards for HR reports.Working in the HR Department, I worked in a contract role improving efficiency of report generation, response to ad-hoc requests, accurate analysis and improved visualisation. The role demanded expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Excel VBA.

Analysis of data related to software development, contract management, software reliability growth, escaped defects and root cause analysis.Achievements(1) In-depth analysis of Root Cause Database for customer quality problems, with recommendations implemented in the design process.(2) Software Reliability Growth Modelling on software releases. (3) Used pattern recognition to implement a simple rule giving early warning of potential field issues with optical devices from manufacturing test data.(4) Implemented a Contract Quality Index based on a selection of descriptive terms about the project which ranked it as a winning proposition or not, compared to previous contracts for which the results were known.

My key task was the investigation of field return data from customers to support the analysis of the Reliability Physics & Materials Science group.Achievements(1) Carried out analysis of product field returns data and customer issues for patterns & trends. This was a high-level job supporting a world-class physical analysis laboratory, with material scientists in Ireland and the US.(2) In a significant analysis we showed that a serious issues was linked with humidity by showing spatial distribution on a map of the US.(3) Implemented in Excel Visual Basic a tool that used regression analysis to give a quick estimate of the carbon footprint of new circuit packs. We published a paper on this in the Journal of the American Mechanical Engineering Society.(4) I led a project that modelled the duration times of environmental stress testing of all company optical products worldwide, recommending shorter tests in many cases by a number of hours. Cumulatively, this saved several million euros.

Achievements(1) Member of start-up team of Bell Labs Ireland funded by Irish Government and Alcatel-Lucent in 2004-2005.(2) Supported a major quality and reliability improvement effort with a key customer, adjusting the test process, analysing data and implementing improvements. (3) Introduced Highly Accelerated Stress Testing for Ireland products, solving a major customer problem at the same time.

Various positions in Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality and Reliability Engineering and Management at Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett-Packard) manufacturing plants in Galway and Clonmel. Self-Employed for the period 1991-1997.
